Ms Chakma is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, Hansraj College, University of Delhi from January 2020 onwards. During her tenure she has taught a variety of core and elective subjects including Indian Economy 1,Public Finance, International Economics, Introductory Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. Prior to this, she worked as Guest Faculty at the same insittution (October-November,2019).

Ms Chakma had previously interned with OXFAM INDIA during May-June 2011. Her project focussed on ground level research on status of women farmers in select districts of UP.
